William Means

Hall of Fame Inductee - Hon. William Means

Hon. William Means, a distinguished alumnus of Sand Springs High School’s Class of 1951, pursued a law degree at Tulsa University before embarking on a notable legal career. Appointed Public Defender in 1961, he was renowned for his unwavering commitment to the law, famously stating, “You don’t have to agree with the decision, but we were upholding the law, and that is the important thing.” Means served as a district judge on the Tulsa District Court before moving to the appellate bench. In retirement, he embraced his passion for restoring vintage automobiles. William Means passed away in December 2012.
