Northwoods Fine Arts Academy students are discovering the magic of puppetry thanks to a generous grant from the Sand Springs Education Foundation (SSEF).
Through the creativity and dedication of teacher Ms. Butler, K-5 students are immersed in a world of imagination and expression. With the purchase of a diverse collection of puppets and materials to build a dedicated puppet theater, the classroom has transformed into a stage for learning and fun.
From writing scripts to designing sets, students are developing essential skills in storytelling, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Puppetry also fosters teamwork, communication, and public speaking as students collaborate to create engaging performances. Beyond the stage, the program cultivates empathy, perspective-taking, and social skills as students step into the shoes of different characters.
The SSEF grant has been instrumental in providing the resources needed to bring this imaginative and educational program to life. The impact on students’ overall development is immeasurable as they explore the world of puppetry and discover their own creative potential.
