Marques Haynes, a proud alumnus of Sand Springs Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1942, first honed his basketball skills playing with his siblings. It was at Langston University where his remarkable ball-handling abilities caught the eye of the Harlem Globetrotters. Haynes achieved national fame as a star player with the Harlem Globetrotters, Harlem Magicians, Meadowlark Lemon’s Bucketeers, and the Harlem Wizards. His illustrious career took him to 103 countries and numerous cities across the U.S. He retired in 1992 after 46 years in the game and now resides in the Dallas, TX area.
