Linda L. Robertson, a distinguished public servant and legal expert, has made notable contributions in Congressional relations and legislative policy through her role as Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Linda L. Robertson graduated from Charles Page High School in 1973. She completed a B.A. in Political Science/Economics from the University of Southern Illinois in just three years, where she was recognized as the Outstanding Speaker at the National College Debate Tournament in 1975. Robertson went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Tulsa in 1979 and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986.
On June 14, 1995, Linda was sworn in as Assistant Secretary at the Department of Treasury. In this role, she advises the Secretary and Sub-Cabinet officers on Congressional relations policy. She serves as the principal contact and coordinator for Treasury’s interactions with Congress, the White House, and other departments. Robertson also manages departmental relations with businesses, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, state and local elected officials, and the general public.
Before her appointment as Assistant Secretary, Robertson was named Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Treasury in January 1993, where she handled the Department’s legislative activities related to tax and budget issues. Her career prior to Treasury included a partnership with the law firm Powell, Goldstein, Frazer, and Murphy in Washington, D.C., specializing in energy, policy, and tax legislation. From 1976 to 1987, she served as staff counsel and then tax counsel to Representative James Jones, managing all tax legislation before the Committee on Ways and Means.
