Hall of Fame Inductee - Larry Glen Hurst

Larry Hurst’s remarkable journey as a public servant reflects a life of dedication and leadership.  His career seamlessly transitioned from coaching and legal service to shaping young minds as a principal, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to excellence and community service.

Larry Hurst, a proud member of the Charles Page High School Class of 1967, made his mark as a key player on the 1966 CPHS State Champion Football team, scoring a pivotal touchdown in the championship game. That season, the Sandites achieved an undefeated record of 12-0. Hurst continued his football career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, contributing to a national championship with the Golden Norsemen.

After earning his Bachelor’s degree in education, Larry began his coaching career in Del City, OK, before taking on the role of head coach in Blackwell, OK. He later served as the deputy attorney general for the state of Oklahoma but eventually returned to education. His career concluded with a notable tenure as principal at a junior high in Sheridan, WY, where he retired in 2013.
