I.J. Ganem, a 1969 graduate of Charles Page High School, is a celebrated musician and successful talent agent with deep roots in Sand Springs and notable achievements in the entertainment industry.
Born on January 6, 1951, in Ray, Arizona, I.J. Ganem moved to Sand Springs with his family when he was two years old and lived there until 1997. He began his education at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and continued through the Sand Springs Public School system from first grade to 12th grade.
In junior high, I.J. and a friend formed a rock band called the “Rogues Five,” which gained considerable success. The band opened for well-known acts such as “The Doors,” “Paul Revere and the Raiders,” “The Shadows of the Night,” and “The Kingsmen.” Despite this early success, I.J. put his music career on hold while attending Tulsa University. After college, he resumed performing, starting as a solo acoustic artist at a Tulsa nightspot, where he played guitar and used a bar stool for percussion.
I.J. has performed for the last four governors of Oklahoma at their requests and has appeared in two national music videos on TNN. His performances earned him the title of “Ambassador to Grand Lake” from the owners of Shangri-La. In 1998, he joined the cast of “Branson City Lights” at the Remington Theatre in Branson, MO, marking his second season there.
Beyond his music career, I.J. owns Saddlerock Agency, one of the most successful talent agencies in Oklahoma. He continues to live in Sand Springs with his wife and son.
