From the classrooms of Sand Springs High School to the battlefields of Vietnam, SSgt. Billie Allen Hall’s life was marked by service, dedication, and bravery. Known for his big smile and kind manner, Billie’s legacy is a testament to the impact one individual can have on their community and country.
SSgt. Billie Allen Hall graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1957. His mother moved to the Widow’s Colony in 1942 after the death of his father. While in high school, Billie was active in FFA, serving as secretary and president. He received special permission from the Sand Springs Home to build cages for his numerous FFA projects. Known for his big smile and kind manner, Billie made friends easily.
In 1960, Billie joined the Army. After basic training, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for medic training. During Christmas 1961, Billie returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Janice Eyman. In October 1965, he was deployed to Na Trang, Vietnam, where he served as a Special Forces Medic, Green Beret.
During a mission to A Shau Special Forces Camp, Billie was severely injured, ultimately resulting in his death. Despite his injuries, his instructions to fellow medics saved many lives of his fellow servicemen. Billie’s sacrifice and heroism continue to be remembered and honored by all who knew him.
